I am a third-year Politics and Music major at Whitman College with great passion in philanthropy, social justice, women’s and environmental issues, and this is evident in my work experience,as seen in my attached resume. My interests grew out of exposure to the world of politics and women’s rights advocacy,as well as taking classes such as political ecology, and American indigenous politics.I like exploring the merging of social,socio-political,and economic issues with governmental policy. My current experience includes fundraising, event organizing, team management, volunteer recruiting and training, hiring, creating tools and structure for a position, and communication. At Whitman,I am part of the student government as a member on the Nominations Committee, which hires student leaders to different positions in student organizations,a student representative to the Student Life Committee of the Governing Board, and a student writing tutor.Currently my main job is the Student Employment Intern position, where I get the chance to create structure around student employment for the benefit of students on work study.I work with the my supervisors and an advisory committee to create a handbook, talk to employers to post more of their open positions on the online job portal, and conduct workshop to assist new students with their job search. My volunteer position is with the Present Purpose Network,a network of women that funds innovative grassroots projects created and run by women who live in the community they serve, both globally and locally. In the past I have worked with the International Development Exchange,Global Fund for Women,Haki Water, and Akili Dada.I enjoy music (classical and jazz especially),sports or any outdoor activity, cooking (chapati and mandazi in particular),and travelling with friends.
