Having grown up in Nakuru and attended Alliance Girls, Carolyne Gathinji left Kenya in 2007 to pursue further studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).While there, she was an active member of the MIT Gospel Choir, the African Students Association and the Undergraduate Giving Campaign. She was also a Resident Associate Advisor for her dorm and co-facilitated a seminar on Good to Great Women in Leadership.
Carolyne graduated in 2011 with double degrees in Mathematics and Management Science and proceeded to join UBS as an Investment Banking Analyst in the New York Office in the Financial Institutions Group. For two years, she worked in teams to advise companies on both capital and M&A transactions. She then left UBS in 2013 and moved back to Boston to join Harvard Business School as an MBA candidate, where she is currently a second year student. This last summer, Carolyne spent her time at McKinsey & Company in their Boston office and will be rejoining McKinsey upon graduation in May 2015.
